Donald L. Malovec, 77, of David City, died Sunday, September 21, 2014 at St. Joseph's Villa in David City.
Donald Louis Malovec was born March 31, 1937 on a farm near Brainard to Louis J. and Frances (Zegers) Malovec. He attended Holy Trinity School and graduated from Brainard High School in 1955. Don worked at Hughes Bros in Seward and Behlen Manufacturing in Columbus. He also worked for the State of Nebraska Carpenter for 15 years. After retiring, Don drove the bus for Aquinas for 15 years driving the routes to ball games and field trips.
He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and was a Grand Knight. Don did wood working, making picture frames for family and cabinets for the hospital and Aquinas. He enjoyed traveling to various states with friends and neighbors, Gene and Dutch Divis. Don was Godfather to Dave Shonka and Sherri (Shonka) Suelter, and enjoyed teasing all his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his sisters: Doris (Ernie) Shonka of Surprise, NE, and Janet Malovec of David City; 6 nieces and nephews; 21 great-nieces and nephews; Aunt Dorothy Zegers of David City; and many cousins.
Don is preceded in death by his parents: Louis in 1967 and Frances in 2010.
