Dennis Svec, 92, of Rogers, passed away on January 28, 2021, at the Parkview Home in Dodge.
Memorials can be directed towards the Schuyler Knights of Columbus, or the Colfax County Food Pantry.
A private family mass will be held for Dennis at Holy Trinity, Heun. The Mass will be posted to the Svoboda Funeral Home Facebook page and website following the Mass. Interment with military honors will take place at the Schuyler Cemetery. Svoboda Funeral Home is handling arrangements for the family.

Dennis was born to James P. Svec and Tillie (Pokorny) Svec on June 5, 1928, on the farm in Colfax Country, NE. He attended grade school District #17 in 1932, starting in the first grade. He graduated from Schuyler High School at age 16. He was drafted into the Army in March 1951 and served as a Draftsman in the 930th Engineer Aviation Group of the Air Force, designing an airplane landing strip in the Korean War at Teagu. He was honorably discharged in January 1953.
He enjoyed polka music and met his future wife, Julianna DeMare, at a polka dance at Sokol Hall in Omaha. He married Julianna at the Queens of Apostle Church in Council Bluffs, IA, on August 20, 1966. He had two daughters, Clarice and Laura, who he raised in a house that he designed the blueprints for. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2716 and a member of Heun Holy Trinity Church.
He enjoyed farming, reading, and made over 100 jigsaw puzzles, of which one is a 4000-piece puzzle. He loved baseball, particularly the Red Sox, and played with a local baseball team in his 20s. Dennis’ love for travel started with the Rural Youth group and continued on with his family, taking them on many vacation driving trips, traveling through at least 25 states and Canada. Dennis was a devoted Catholic, husband, father.
Dennis spent his last few years at Parkview Nursing Home in Dodge, NE. We want to thank the kind caretakers and blessings to the staff. Dennis was loved dearly by his family, will be missed, and always remembered.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Julianna; daughters Clarice Anderson of Lincoln and her children Ashley and Austin Anderson, and Laura (Rick Seegraber) Svec of Inver Grove Heights, MN; siblings: Gladys (Bill) Romo of Canada, Rolland (Magdeline) Svec of Schuyler, and Leroy (Pat) Svec of Seward; sister-in-law Mary Ann Svec of Scribner as well as many nieces and nephews.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Brent Anderson, and brother Elden Svec.
