Delbert Kassmeier, 83, of Howells, passed away Tuesday, April 7th in Columbus. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday April 10th at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Howells. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Friday one hour before services. Burial will be in S.S. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
Delbert was born on the family farm near Dodge on December 27, 1931 to Frank and Minnie (Dohmen) Kassmeier. He attended country school through the 8th grade before beginning to work his lifelong love of farming. On September 12, 1953 Delbert married Esther Fiala at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Leigh, NE. Delbert was a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Howells. Delbert enjoyed dancing, and after retiring from the farm mowing the lawn, gardening, listening to polka music and eating out.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Esther of Howells, children: Debra (Mike) Reed of Council Bluffs, Patti Prusa of Howells, Michael (Kay) Kassmeier of Roswell, GA, Susan (Vel) Temme of Wayne, Douglas Kassmeier and special friend Eileen of Lincoln; 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, sister Valdeen (Billy) Hagedorn of Lincoln; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Jane, and brothers: Edward, Anton, Dennis and Alfred.
