Dean E. Struebing, 79, of Rising City, died Monday, October 6, 2008 at Butler County Health Care Center in David City. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, October 10 at the United Methodist Church in Rising City with Pastor Glenn Hubbard officiating. Burial will be in the Circle Mound Cemetery. Viewing will be from 4-7pm on Thursday with family greeting friends from 5-7pm at Chermok Funeral Home and Friday, one hr before services at the church. Memorials may be given in lieu of flowers to family choice. Dean was born February 2, 1929 to Christian E. and Gusta Ann (Grubaugh)Struebing at Rising City, Nebraska. He attended school at Rising City and graduated in 1946. He attended Commercial Extension School of Commerce in Omaha, Nebraska and received his certificate in April 1947. On November 5, 1950 he married Janice Harriet Smith at the United Methodist Church in Rising City. To this union three sons were born. He was employed at the Farmers State Bank, Rising City for 14 years and on April 12, 1960 was appointed Butler County Clerk, as position he held for 34 years. He was apponited Rising City Village Clerk/Treasurer on July 1, 1970. He spent 32 years on the Rising City Volunteer Fire Department, 14 years as s Scout Master and Cub Master, 6 years on the Rising City School Board of Education, 3 years as Secretary of the Community Club, was appointed a member of Certificate of Need-Appeal Panel, Department of Health, served on the Lincoln Area Agency on Aging, served as Treasurer of Circle Mound Cemetery Board, held various offices in the Methodist Church and was a Sunday School teacher for a number of years. His life was Janice and his three children and seven grandchildren including Sons: Michael & wife Peg of Omaha and children: Erin, Amy and Emily ; David & and wife Bev of Brainard,and children:Brett and wife Kathy, Kyle and Sadie Jo; Jeffrey & wife Joan of Pensacola, FL,and son Christian. He was expecting his first great-grandson in December of 2008. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother: James Struebing.
