Dean Raitt

Dean D. Raitt, 95, of David City, formerly of Rising City died Saturday, January 3, 2009 at David Place in David City.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 1:30pm at First English Lutheran Church, Rising City with Ron Lau, PMA officating. Burial will be at 3:30pm at David City Cemetery. There will be a light luncheon immediately following the church service. Viewing will be Monday from 2-5pm at Chermok Funeral Home and Tuesday, one hr before services at the church.
Memorials may be given in care of the family.
Dean David Raitt was born on October 27, 1913 on the farm east of Rising City in Union Township to Claude and Tillie(Curry)Raitt. He attended rural Pleasant Hill School District 33 and graduated from Rising City High School in 1931. He farmed all of his life. He married Esther E. Ingleright on February 14, 1939. They lived on a farm six miles east of Rising City for 42 yrs. This farm was homesteaded by Dean's grandparents, the David Curry's. They retired and moved into Rising City in 1980.
Dean served on the Union Township Board as well as the Rising City Town Board. He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council and was treasurer and financial secretary.
Survivors include his brother Richard(Fairy)Raitt of Rising City; Sisters: Irene Kelly and Clarabelle(Myron)Kilgor both of David City and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parent and his wife Esther in 2006.
