Dean F. Kilgore, 88, of David City died Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Brookstone Acres in Columbus.

Dean F. Kilgore was born on January 18, 1931 at David City, Nebraska to Fay and Emma Vay(Armagost)Kilgore. He attended Rising City Schools, graduating from Rising City High School in 1948. In November of 1950, Dean married Verdayne Vawter at the Ulysses Methodist Church. One child was born to this union, Bonnie Kilgore Lund.
Dean worked as a salesman for Dempster, a pump irrigation company, for 25 years. After he retired, he enjoyed playing golf, spending time socializing with the locals and followed the stock market on a daily basis. He also enjoyed playing cards, watching baseball, shooting pool, and gardening. He had a quick wit and dry sense of humor, and was always good for a laugh.
Dean was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Rising City and a past member of the Elks Club in Beatrice.
Dean is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Bonnie Kilgore Lund and Kenneth Meyer of Altadena, CA, three brothers: Gary(Floy) Kilgore of Omaha, Wally(Luanne)Kilgore of Rising City and Willis Kilgore of Lincoln, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Verdayne in 2004, two brothers: Gene and Virgil Kilgore, and a nephew, Duane Kilgore.
