Daniel E. Timms, 80, of Lincoln, died Friday, September 21, 2012 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Lincoln.
Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, September 25, at 10:00am in St. Mary's Church with Fr. Bernard Kimminau officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors by SAC Military Detail.
Viewing will be on Tuesday, from 9-10am with a 9:30am parish rosary all at the church.

Dan was born on May 3, 1932 at David City, Nebraska to Murvyn and Sophie(Medinger)Timms. He grew up on a farm west of David City and attended country schools, graduating from David City High School in 1950. After high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force and was on the active list for 24 years, retiring in 1974 with the rank of Captain.
Dan attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, earning a Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Business. He then attended Purdue University, where he earned a Master's Degree and worked on a PHD in the field of Agriculture Econometrics.
After school, he went to Washington D.C. where he worked for the U.S.D.A. as a department head, retiring in 1997. He then moved to Lincoln where he resided at Eastmont Towers Retirement Community.
Dan is survived by numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mothers: Margaret(Janovy)Timms, and Irene(Swan)Timms.
