Daniel Hook, 84, of David City, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2010 in David City. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, December 29 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 28 from 3:00 - 7:00 pm at St. Mary's Church, followed by the Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 pm. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in David City.
Daniel was born August 26, 1926 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was adopted by Louis and Caroline (Meysenburg) Kreizinger and brought to David City where he lived his entire life. Dan graduated from David City High School in 1944. Following graduation Dan served in the Merchant Marines. On August 6, 1946 Dan was married to Eleanore Janky in St. Mary's Church. Eleanore passed away on May 29, 1981. On June 5, 1982, Dan married Zita Birkel in St. Mary's Church in David City.
Dan served as Clerk of the Butler County District Court and later was an independent carpet installer. He was a member of the American Legion, a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, former President of the Nebraska Right to Life, and State Pro-Life Chairman for the Knights of Columbus.
Dan is survived by his wife Zita, of David City; sons: Jim (MaryAnn) Hook of Riverside, CA; Bill (Anna) Hook of St. Louis, MO; Don (Lori) Hook of Omaha, NE; daughters: Cathy Ray of Bullhead City, AZ; Diane Rehder of Hickman, NE; Mary Ellen Hook of Lincoln, NE; Jeanne (Mark) Masur of David City, NE; sisters-in-law: Alice Kreizinger and Dorothy Janky; 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eleanore, brothers: Art Kreizinger and L. Robert Kreizinger; sister: Josephine Hille and son-in-law: Gilbert Rehder.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorials are suggested "In Care of the Family".
