Dale L., Dowse, 78, of David City, died Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at Butler County Health Care Center in David City.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, 10:30am at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, David City with Rev. Mark Schutt officiating. Burial will be in the David City Cemetery. Family will greet friends on Friday, Dec. 6 from 4-6pm at Chermok Funeral Home. Additional viewing will be Saturday, 9:30 to 10:30am at the church

Dale Leo Dowse, was born at Comstock to Eleanor (Erikson) and Philip Dowse on November 5, 1935. He lived at Comstock and graduated from Comstock High School in 1954. He was proud to be part of the state champion football team his junior year. He worked in road construction for Constructors Inc. of Lincoln for 42 years and retired in 2000. He dealt with the effects of the West Nile Virus and diabetes for the last ten years.
Dale and Betty enjoyed 26 years together on their acreage south of David City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, especially relaxing by the fire on the patio.
He is preceded in death by his parents Eleanor (Erikson) and Philip Dowse, brother Darrell , first spouse Eva (Schloatman) West and grandson Seth Thomas.
He is survived by his spouse, Betty, daughters Sherri Thomas, Astoria, Oregon; Susan (Kenny) Graham, Ravenna; Patricia (Wade) Cuny, Rapid City, South Dakota; and son Scott, Oak Park, Illinois; step daughter Lisa (Lee) Nickolite, Bellwood; stepson Chad (Julie) Rezac, Wahoo; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Three brothers: Doyle, Raymond and Ron; and one sister Diane Horst.
