Colleen D. Chidester, 86, of Rising City, passed away on July 8, 2013 at St. Joseph's Villa in David City.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelby with Father John Rooney officiating. Visitation will be 9:30-10:00am at the church with a Rosary service at 10:00am. Burial will be at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park in Omaha.

Colleen Dorothy Chidester was born August 15, 1926 to Lee and Ann(Zednick) Johnson in Omaha, NE. She was a long time resident of Omaha until moving to Rising City. There she worked as a school cook. Colleen enjoyed her Bunco Birthday group, and other birthday groups. Colleen had a lot of hobbies which included ceramics, knitting, crocheting, baking, cooking, and fising. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. Colleen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a member of the Rosary Crusade and the Ladies Guild.
She is survived by her daughter: Roberta (Daniel) Varga of Chandler, AZ.; Sisters: Dolores Thornton of Omaha, Margaret Sacco of Omaha, and Judy (Richard) Wingard of Rising City; three grandchildren: Daniel (Teri) Varga, Scott (Michele) Varga, and Susan (Patrick) D'Agostino; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Colleen is preceded in death by her parents; Husband: Robert; Brothers: Robert and Charles Johnson; Sister: Lois Gardner; and grandson: Dennis Varga.
