Clarence E. Krenk, 83, of Schuyler, formerly of Abie, died Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Schuyler.
Clarence was born June 5, 1931, on the farm in Abie, to Emil and Rose (Polacek) Krenk, and remained a life long Abie resident. He attended Abie Public School, Nimburg Schools, and graduated from David City High School in 1949. Clarence entered into the Army in 1952 and was discharged in 1954 with the rank of Sergeant. He married Darlene Sedlacek on June 14, 1956 in Bruno.
Clarence was a farmer and a seed corn dealer, and proud caretaker of the Abie Catholic Cemetery for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he faithfully worked Bingo every week. Clarence was also a member of the Brainard Rejda Legion Post #273, and a member of the Abie Volunteer Fire Department. He was the score keeper for Abie basketball games, softball games, and attended Aquinas sporting events. After moving into the Golden Living Center in Schuyler, he became the Golden Living Residential Council President and Bingo Caller. Clarence was a social person, who enjoyed visiting and making friends where ever he went. He loved his kolaches, duck, dumplings, and occasional trip to the casino.
He is survived by his children: David (Nancy) Krenk of Florence, KY, Carol (Brian) Schoenhofer of Topeka, KS, and Galen (Nancy) Krenk of David City, NE; 9 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandchild; and his specials friends at the Golden Living Center.
Clarence is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Darlene in 2008; sister: Lucille Swanson; step-grandson: Jay Romshek; and brother-in-law: Ben Rerucha.
Memorials have been suggested to: Aquinas High School, Brainard American Legion, and the Golden Living Center.
