Charles G. "Chuck" Hollister

Charles G. "Chuck" Hollister was born to Presbyterian Missionaries Dr. William and Emily (Morris) Hollister on February 13, 1931 in Mokpo, Korea. He attended McCallie Prep School, graduated from Davidson College in 1959 and received his Master’s Degree in Journalism from American University. Charles served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1953 – 1957. He worked for IBM in Gaithersburg, MD from 1968 – 1993 and continued working as a consultant for IBM for several years after his retirement. Charles was an avid sailor, a Ham radio operator , an avid tennis player and quite accomplished at chess. He accepted Jesus as his Savior in May of 2012. He is survived by daughters: Rev. Laura Hollister of Schuyler, NE, Catherine (Mark) Merritt of New Fairfield, CT, son Bryan (Mary) Hollister of West Seattle, WA and “adopted” daughter Mimi (Mary) (John) Wakefield of Moultonboro, NH. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Beth Merritt (Joel) Nosker, Matthew (Valerie) Merritt, Jason Merritt and his fiancé Cassandra Adams; and Madelyn Hollister; 1 great grandchild Lily Nosker; 2 brothers Dr. Robert (Cornelia) Hollister of Franklin, TN and Dr. William (Bill) Hollister of Fredericksburg, VA; 1 sister: Emily (Frank) Vecella of Maryland and Florida and 8 nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, uncles, aunts, five cousins, and nephew David Vecella. Burial will be Cedar Grove Extension Cemetery in New Bern, North Carolina at 10:00 A.M. Friday July 26th. Memorials may be made in care of the First Presbyterian Church in Schuyler or the National Parkinson Foundation
