Caroline Frances Kampschnieder was born on November 6, 1926 on the family farm near West Point to George and Frances (Ortmeier) Franzluebbers. On September 27, 1949 in a double wedding ceremony, Caroline married Clarence Kampschnieder alongside Caroline’s sister Josephine and Clarence’s brother Rudy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Olean.
Caroline was incredibly devoted to her family and raised nine children while her husband Clarence tended to the farm. While raising their family Caroline used her baking skills to always have fresh sweets and breads to eat and used her green thumb to grow a large garden each year. After the children were grown, she spent her spare time crocheting and doing word search puzzles. Caroline was actively involved in the Sts. Peter and Paul Christian Mothers Society and led the rosary before daily Mass and Sunday Mass. She always enjoyed singing with the Merry Makers, which consisted of Caroline and three of her sisters. For many years they entertained regularly at local nursing homes.
