82 year old Bryce Chalquist of Omaha died August 26th at Alegent Health Immanuel Fontenelle Home in Omaha. Bryce was born December 1, 1927 at Rising City to Fredolph and Evangeline (Swanson) Chalquist. He graduated from Rising City High School in 1945 and attended Midland College before graduating from UNL with a BS in 1950 and his MA in 1953. He received his Administrative Specialist Certificate from UNL in 1964. Bryce married Dona Jean Willman on May 6, 1951 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wayne. He served in Korea while in the US Army from 1951 to 1952. Bryce taught in Valley in 1950, Stanton for 13 years as the Ag Instructor and the 2 years as Principal, then served in Schuyler High School for 2 years as the Principal and finished his career as Superintendent of Schuyler Schools for 22 years before retiring in 1990. He then worked part time for the Svoboda Funeral Home for 15 years. He loved to do woodworking, work with stained glass, hunt, fish, golf and spending time with his family. Bryce was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Shrine, Nebraska Association of School Administrators, American Legion, VFW, Colfax County Veterans Service Organization, Rotary and delivered Meals on Wheels for 14 years. Bryce is survived by two daughters, Sue (Fred) Allis of Omaha and Debra (Curt) Perrin of Kalamazoo, MI; six grandchildren Amber Derrrico, Mitchell (Heidi) Allis, Laura Allis (fiancee, Rafael Diaz), Matthew (Sara) Perrin, Andrew (Rene') Perrin and Katherine Perrin; and seven great grandchildren; Maya Derrico, Gus Allis, Charlie Allis, Matthew Perrin II, Bryce Perrin, Mia Perrin and Olivia Perrin; 2 brothers, Hollis of Warrensburg, MO and Curt (Bev) of El Cajon, CA. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dona (January 18, 2009); parents; grandson, Nicholas Perrin Memorial to Schuyler Senior Center or Recreational Therapy at Immanuel Fontenelle Home. Funeral lunch will be served at the church.
