Bernice Fendrick, 78, of Clarkson, Nebraska, died Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Parkview Home in Dodge. Bernice was born December 19, 1933 in Spencer, South Dakota to Albert and Ione (Horn) Adams. She grew up in rural Waterbury, Nebraska and received her elementary education from Dakota County School District 19. She graduated from Waterbury High School and attended Wayne State College where she received her teacher certificate. Bernice taught in rural schools in Dakota County and Thurston County where she met her husband Joe Fendrick. They were married June 14, 1955 in Schuyler, Nebraksa. The couple moved to a farm south of Clarkson where they raised three children. She enjoyed writing, painting, baking , gardening and being with family. Bernice was on the Board of Directors of the Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District from 1982 to 1989. She was a very dedicated and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Survivors include one daughter, Kathy (David) Janousek of Clarkson, two sons, David Fendrick of Clarkson and Joey (Barb) Fendrick of Bloomfield, nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, five great grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren. Sisters-in-law, Adella (Ray) Furh of Leigh, NE, and Bernice (Adolf) Fendrick of Emerson, NE, sisters Beverly Scheer of Moville, IA, Joyce Purucker of Hubbard, NE, Lois Adams of Waterbury, NE; Leona Olson of Sioux City, IA, Margie Stark of Hubbard, NE; Barb (Dale) Strivens of Allen, NE, Linda (Jerry) Geiger of Sioux City, IA; and a brother Roger (Shirley) Adams of Cairo, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Ione Adams, her husband Joe, daughter-in-law Theresa, brother Richard and sister Rayme and numerous brothers-in-law. Memorials are suggested "In Care of the Family". Lunch will be served at the New Zion Presbyterian Church following Graveside Services at the Clarkson National Cemetery.
