B. Mardell Matousek, age 87, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at Countryside Home in Madison, NE.

Mardell was born Aug 6, 1931, on the family farm located 2 miles east of Shelby and 11/2 south, to David and Blanche (Ribblet) DeTurk. She attended Star School District 22 and Shelby High School.
Mardell married Marcel E Matousek on Nov 29, 1948, at Evangelical United Brethren Church at Shelby, Nebraska. They met at an Easter Dance at the Parish Hall in Shelby, NE in 1948.They started dating after that. Marcel had just gotten home from the Army.
Mardell was a member of the United Methodist Church at Shelby. She was well known for the beautiful quilts she made. She was also very involved in making quilts at both the EUB church and the Methodist church.
Mardell helped Marcel farm in the area just north of Rising City for 45 yrs. In 1993, Marcel and Mardell retired and moved to Columbus, NE.
Survivors include her husband Marcel, three sons, Mick(Bonnie) of Oregon, Blake(Kathy) of Kansas, John of New York. Her sister, Lorene Sorrentino, Connecticut, brother, Bob(Cheri)DeTurk of Kearney, sisters-in-law, Dot DeTurk of Columbus and Marilyn DeTurk of Gretna.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David & Blanche DeTurk, brothers, Wayne, Gene, Mayln, & Darwin DeTurk.
Six grandchildren: Heather (Tyler) Pedersen, Heidi Fuller, Josh ( Katie) Matuousek, Marcus (Suzie) Matousek, Caleb (Hannah) Matousek, & Alyssa (Seth) Sanders.
Nine Great grandchildren.
A Funeral lunch will be held at the Shelby American Legion Hall beginning at 3pm.
