Arthur "Art" Divis, 89, of Brainard, passed away December 30, 2015 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo.

Art was born January 23, 1926 to Ludvik and Vlasta(Kudlacek) Divis, on the farm near Brainard. He attended Schultzville country school, by Brainard. Art served in the U.S. Navy from June 1, 1944 until June 3, 1946. On June 15, 1950 he and Leona Marie Kobza were united in marriage at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
In November of 1955, Art received an award for his outstanding accomplishments in the field of Soil and Water Conservation and Proper Land Use. He also received a certificate of honor from the American Legion recognizing him for his military service during World War II. Art was a member of the Dwight Legion, Knights of Columbus and he served many years on the East Butler School Board. He loved farming, polka dancing, and spending time with his family.
Art is survived by his wife of 65 years: Leona; children: Yvonne(Bernard) Hottovy, of Lincoln, Lyle Divis, of Brainard, Cindy(Ron) Glaser, of Spalding, Rachelle(Dan) Zysset, of Brainard; brother: Arnold(Ilene) Divis; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers and sisters: Eleanor Divis, Ted Divis, Ray Divis, Alfred Divis, Laurine Novacek, and Florance Parnham.
