Arlene Ruth (Bengston) Arnold, 85, of Lincoln died at her home on Sunday, December 14, 2014. Arlene was born July 18, 1929 in Oakland, Nebraska to Fred and Ellen (Osterloh) Bengston. She attended grade school in Dodge County and graduated from Uehling High School in 1947. She attended Wayne State College and taught in rural and elementary schools. She married Fred Arnold on August 3, 1954 in Uehling, Nebraska.
Schuyler, Nebraska was her home for 42 years. As a homemaker, Arlene participated in community events. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Women of the ELCA, Bible Study, Quilt-making, Meals on Wheels, Civic Club, 4-H and Boy and Girl Scouts. She loved spending time with her family especially at parks and picnics. She was knownfor her delicious cinnamon rolls, knot rolls and was an expert seamstress and gardener. She kept active with water aerobics and walked and rode her bike daily.
Survivors are son Tom (Bernadette) Arnold of Platte City, MO., two daughters, Cathy (Tom) Schock of Grand Island, NE. and Diane (Doug) Maughan of Lincoln, NE., five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, sister Alyce Howard of Lincoln, NE. and brother Frederick (Shirley) Bengston of Fremont, NE. She was preceded in death by her husband (Fred) and grandsons (Christopher and Laesonne).
