Funeral Service for Alice E. Loseke, age 98 of Schuyler, will be held 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel. Visitation will be held at the North Chapel on Sunday from 4 PM to 7 PM and on Monday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Burial will be in the Schuyler Cemetery.
Alice was born January 25, 1917 in Colfax County to Joseph F. and Mayme (Horak) Vrba. She attended kindergarten through 6th grade at Colfax County District 15, 7th through 10th grades at Fisher School and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1934. She then taught rural school for 2 years in Colfax County On November 21, 1939 Alice married Adolph H. Loseke at the First Presbyterian Church in Schuyler. They farmed northwest of Schuyler until 1980 when they moved to Schuyler. Alice was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church – Shell Creek, she served as a 4-H leader, was a member of the Wilson Extension Club, enjoyed her flower gardens, playing bingo and cards but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Alice died July 9th at Brookstone Acres in Columbus where she had been a resident for the past six weeks.
Alice is survived by their three children; Judy (Emil) Ruzicka of Mesa, AZ, Pat (Marvin) Hladky of Schuyler and Tom (Debra) Loseke of Columbus; 2 grandsons; 2 step-granddaughters; 3 great grandchildren; 1 step-great grandson; brothers, Thomas (Marilyn) Vrba of Pennsylvania and Charles (Elaine) Vrba of David City; sisters, Norma Kittman of Texas and Pat May of California.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Adolph (May 22, 2003); brothers, Lambert and Joe Vrba, Jr.; sisters, Agnes Lueke, Vlasta Vrba, Barbara Evans and Helene Payzant.
Memorial suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church – Shell Creek or Schuyler Senior Center.
Funeral lunch will be served at St. Augustine's Parish Hall.
