Agnes E. Urbanek, 86, of Ulysses died Friday, December 14, 2007 at Sunderman Home in Seward of recurrent breast cancer. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00am, Monday at Immaculate Conception Church in Ulysses.
Agnes donated her body to science so there will be no viewing.
Agnes was born on September 13, 1921 to Joseph and Mary(Vrbka)Purtek near Dwight, Nebraska. She attended grade school at Dwight Assumption and Holy Trinity, Brainard and graduated from Ulysses High School. She was a homemaker who loved to bake, garden, and was an incredible cook. She was involved in many organizations, including: Busy Hands 4-H as Club Leader, Catholic Workman, Ulysses Community Club; Ulysses Neighbors Extension Club, Immaculate Conception Altar Society, and the Czech Club. She enjoyed traveling going to the Czech Republic twice. She loved polka music and helping her grandchildren experience farm life.
Survivors: Children: Mary Jane Masour; Marcia Bohuslavsky of Brainard; Deb Arends of Lincoln; Judy and Lon Dyer of Lincoln; Jerome and Terri of Ulysses; Greg and Brenda of Shelton; 15 Grandchildren; 11 Great-grandchildren; 3 Great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Minnie Purtek of St. Joseph, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Cyril in 1985; one daughter: Jeanette Koch; son-in-law: Dick Arends, infant sister: Helen; sister: Mildred Hruska; brother: Joseph Purtek.
Memorials in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society; Aquinas School Endowment Fund or Ulysses Community Center.
