Ana Maria Lanuza, 68, of Schuyler passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 in Schuyler.

Memorials can be directed towards family wishes for later designation.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Schuyler. Visitation will be on Friday, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Svoboda Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume Saturday from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. at the church. Svoboda Funeral Home is handling arrangements for Ana's family.

Ana Maria Lanuza was born on February 8, 1955 in Mexico City to Ruben Barrera Jasso and Maria Lopez Paredes, the oldest of nine children. She grew up in Mexico City. On February 26, 1977, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Salvador Lanuza Rosas at The Resurrection Catholic Church in Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico. Ana and Salvador lived in Mexico, Illinois, and finally, in Schuyler - place they called home for the past 12 years.

Family was extremely important to Ana, she looked forward to her daily visits with her daughters and grandchildren, as well as frequent phone calls from her siblings and lifelong friends. She loved spending time with her plants and flowers year round, cooking, baking, and making a plethora of crafts - crocheting, knitting, sewing, painting. There wasn’t a project she would turn down, she was very creative. An avid fan of birds, she could spend hours looking out the window, it would warm her heart to see a cardinal, blue jay or hummingbird; meanwhile, Salvador would be tasked with chasing away the squirrels.

Ana is survived by her husband, Salvador; daughters, Claudia (Ricardo Rosas Ruiz), Verenice (Alejandro Rosas Flores), and Alejandrina “Nina” (Jesus Lopez Nuñez); grandchildren: Emiliano, Ricardo “Richie”, Alejandro “Janito”, Jesus “Walo”, Natalie “Naty”, and Ana Cecilia; by her siblings: Ruben, Lilia, Eugenio, Rodolfo, Pedro, Dolores, and Julio, and her siblings-in-law: Arturo, Irma, Socorro, Antonio, Guadalupe, and Carmen; and their respective families.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Maria, her brother, Jose Luis; and her parents-in-law, Antonio Lanuza Marquez and Carmen Rosas Almanza; and her sister-in-law, Teresa.

Ana María Lanuza nació el 8 de febrero de 1955 en la Ciudad de México, hija de Rubén Barrera Jasso y María López Paredes, siendo la mayor de nueve hermanos. Creció en la Ciudad de México. El 26 de febrero de 1977 se unió en matrimonio al amor de su vida, Salvador Lanuza Rosas en la Iglesia Católica La Resurrección en Celaya, Guanajuato, México. Ana y Salvador vivieron en México, Illinois y finalmente en Schuyler, lugar al que llamaron hogar durante los últimos 12 años.

La familia era extremadamente importante para Ana, esperaba con ansias las visitas diarias de sus hijas y nietos, así como las frecuentes llamadas telefónicas de sus hermanos y amigos de toda la vida. Le encantaba pasar tiempo con sus plantas y flores durante todo el año, cocinar, hornear y hacer una gran cantidad de manualidades: crochet, tejido, costura, pintura. No había ningún proyecto al que ella dijera que no, era muy creativa. Fanática de las aves, le gustaba pasar horas mirando por la ventana, le alegraba el corazón ver un cardenal, un blue jay o un colibrí; Mientras tanto, le daba la tarea a Salvador de ahuyentar a las ardillas.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Rubén y María, su hermano, José Luis; y sus suegros, Antonio Lanuza Márquez y Carmen Rosas Almanza; y su cuñada, Teresa.
